Monica Merlin

Monica Merlin is an Assistant Professor in the Art History Department of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar). With a background in Chinese Studies and a doctorate in Art History, her research is committed to rethinking and reevaluating the practice of women artists in Chinese contemporary art, focusing on gender, feminism, activism, intersectionality, and transculturality. She has contributed to encyclopedia and curatorial projects, her publications are included in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes.
