This BFA project, هالة القمر, explores culture and promotes cultural preservation through a personal lens. Though the moon is shared by everyone, it also has personal, poetic and culturally specific meaning. While the moon represents and communicates myth, metaphor and the female around the world, this research explores the meaning of the moon through local Arabic poetry, regional Arabic metaphor, and my own name, which means the Moon’s Halo.    

Graphic Design can serve to communicate, educate, preserve and prolong history, culture and identity. This BFA project hopes to ignite and encourage an interest and passion for Arabic Poetry through the lens of the Moon. I hope to revive all the Arabic poems that have been lost or neglected on people's bookshelves. This project is a poetic call to action.
